Farmville How to Get Started with the Facebook Game

Unsurprisingly, Farmville could become the fastest growing game of all times. Statistics about the number of Farmville players differ but according to some, 80 million people access their Farmville account on a monthly basis.

Farmville is a game by Zynga that is accessible in Facebook. Each player starts developing a farm, helping neighbors (Facebook friends), planting trees and taking care of animals. Farmville is a virtual farm. It sounds simple but the game is truly addictive.

If you are a Farmville novice, follow these tips to set up your farm and to get started.

Setting up your farm

Access your Facebook account and search for Farmville. Allow the application access to get started.

You will get a small farm but as you make money, you will be given the chance to expand it. Notice that the game has features allowing you to zoom in and out and to play full screen. You can customize your character.

Before you start planting crops, invite some friends to become your neighbors. Neighbors will help you in fertilizing plants and dealing with weeds. You can also receive free gifts from your Farmville friends.

To add neighbors, examine the horizontal menu on top of your Farmville playscreen. Go to the option Invite Friends to ask your Facebook acquaintances to join you in Farmville.

Crops

The most essential part of Farmville is planting crops. These take some time to grow and when collected, crops bring you income and experience points.

In the beginning of the game, you will be allowed to select among strawberries, soy beans and eggplant. Click the marketplace tab to select the crop you are willing to grow. There, you will see the price of each and the time it takes to grow. Strawberries grow in four hours only.

Use the green plow tool to… well, plow land before you start growing crops. Then visit the marketplace to select among the available crops.

Keep in mind that you have some time to collect fully grown crops before they wither. Multiply the growing time by two to find out when crops will start withering.

Animals

You can also purchase animals from the marketplace or receive these from friends. Each animal brings income, as well. Chicken lay eggs, sheep produce wool and cows are milked. The animals also take some time before you can collect anything.

Each player is entitled to a chicken coop – it allows you to place chickens inside and collect all eggs with one click.

Dairy farms act in the same manner chicken coops do.Trees

The marketplace has various trees available. Each one produces some kind of fruit.

Keep in mind that trees can be sent as gifts and it would be unnecessary to spend money on purchasing those.

Fruits will not wither so you have time to collect those.

Moving up

Click on the marketplace to once again explore crops. Apart from the cost and growing time, you will discover the experience points that each crop brings.

Experience points are needed to move a level up. A bar in the middle of the playscreen will show you how many points you have collected and how many you need to move to the next level.

Level up indicates that you will be able to purchase more crops and trees. You will also get the chance to expand your farm, once you have collected the money needed to purchase a bigger plot.

Bonuses

Click on the blue ribbon that appears right under the arrow tool. It will open a bar containing the Farmville ribbons.

Ribbons are bonuses that you can collect, once you complete specific actions. Each ribbon brings you a cash award and some experience points.

When you scroll over each ribbon listed, you will be given information about the task you need to accomplish to get the specific ribbon.

Once you understand basics, the game is all about building a bigger and more efficient farm. When you have the necessary amount of money, you will be able to purchase a cottage, a barn and horse stables. These will respectively increase your experience points or earn you some money.

Farmville is a pretty basic game but it involves planning and competition against your friends, which makes it addictive. You can practice your strategy skills and eventually move up the Farmville hierarchy fast.
